Newtonmore has a very high proportion of left-handed golfers, perhaps because of shinty, in which the caman is used with either hand.
Newtonmore Golf Week takes place in the first week of August every year.
NEWTONMORE SHINTY CLUB
The Newtonmore Shinty Club has the proud record of having held the national trophy, The Cammanachdh Cup, 28 times - more than any other club.
September 17th 2011 - beat Kingussie to win the Cup for the 29th time!!!
Shinty has been played in the Highlands of Scotand for centuries.
The Eilan, Newtonmore's dedicated shinty field, has a history going back to 1877.
Games are played on many Saturday afternoons
You can watch the players practising through the week.
The Eilan is also the site of the Newtonmore Highland Games on the first weekend in August every year.
