The Village

       NEWTONMORE ~  A TRANQUIL HIGHLAND VILLAGE - BUT THERE'S  MASSES TO DO!

Newtonmore is a traditional, quiet, Highland village set in the midst of stunning scenery beside the River Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park

        

 Visitors love the quiet & safety of the community and the friendliness of local residents.  
 

There is a wide range of places to stay from a caravan site to comfortable family hotels  

 

  In addition to the 10km orbital waymarked path, The Wildcat Trail, there are many walking opportunities using Newtonmore as a starting point.  There are several picnic areas and a playpark for children.

 The village grew up with the coming of the road and railway, in the 19th century. 

It currently has a population of @ 1,100.

There is a thriving Primary School and many clubs and associations with active membership.

 

Many small businesses operate within the village.  The largest is Russwood, a timber merchant specialising in flooring and cladding.

The Newtonmore Shinty team is world-reknowned

 

Some episodes of The Monarch of the Glen were filmed in Newtonmore
